Lithuania’s seacoast is among the most beautiful corners of nature. Many relish it for refreshing air of pine forests, soft, tender sand and clear sea water. Statistic shows that spring and summer gives most of its sunny days to coast than any other place of Lithuania.

Many parts of seaside are protected. Among those are Curonian Spit National Park and Maritime Regional Park. They have seldom visited, clear beaches, pedestrian and bicycle tracks, many rare vegetations, a great variety of birds and butterflies.

The sole sea port of the country – Klaipėda – is situated on the coast nearby. It is an old city of Hanseatic League, famous for outstanding old town and distinctive port spirit.

Only 25 km away from Klaipėda lies the city of Palanga. It is a 24 kilometers long city that attracts tourists who want to enjoy its sun, sand and sea, visit its bars, restaurants, concert and dance halls. Palanga is a great place for both fans of active as well as passive holidays. Sandy beaches, old park with mansion, stud farm, pool, bicycle tracks and great diversity of cultural events attract crowds of tourists every year. There is a long-lived, breath-taking tradition of seeing the sun set from the sea bridge. Smoke-dried fish and cold beer is one of the favorite dainties on the seaside. In the streets of city it is possible to purchase fine amber artworks as well as other traditional souvenirs made form wood, flax and wickers.

In a small settlement of Šventoji about 12 kilometers away You can find a more peaceful place to rest in small wooden cabins near the seashore.

Palanga can be easily called summer entertainment and holiday center of Lithuania not only for its sunny weather. Each summer inhabitants of the city can witness more than 600 different events. Such events are opening of summer season, various choral and pop music festivals, classical music evenings, ring car races, international dog show and various sports contests that attract hundreds of participants and thousand of viewers. On summer weekends resort’s inhabitant count can multiply by 30 or even reach half a million!
